Rules for 2016:
- In 2015, qualifying will be part of the WMF championship again. But this time, things will be different. Every driver will qualify to the race, as long as their best time is from zero to two seconds slower than the polesitter.
- As for the qualifying, the rules are the same of 2015:
-- Each driver will have a three-lap session
-- Only one car can be on the track, to avoid blocking by slower cars
Races, in 2016, will have two criteria for laps:
- If it is an oval track, the race will have 200 Laps
- If it is a road/street track, the race will have 70 Minutes
- TIE-BREAKER
- If there is a tie in the points standings, these are the tie-breaker rules:
1- number of wins
2- number of fastest laps
3- best place finish
4- number of second places
5- number of third places
6- number of poles
7- number of fourth places
8- number of fifth places
9- number of sixth places
10- number of seventh places
...
and so on, until the number of 22nd places
- There will be four championships this year in FGTC:
-- Drivers Championship = the champion will be the driver who scores more points
-- Teams Championship = the champion will be the team who scores more points
-- Rookie of The Year = the champion will be the rookie driver who scores more points
-- FGTC International Cup = the champion will be the country who scores more points
How the International Cup will work:
- There will be the following 10 countries taking part of this championship: South Africa (5 drivers), Japan, Great Britain, Canada (2 drivers), United States, Lithuania, Sweden, Turkey, Namibia, Andorra, Italy, France, Brazil, Ireland and Germany (1 driver each).
- In a rule only applied to South Africa, Japan, Great Britain and Canada, who have multiple drivers in the series, only the nation's best finishing driver in the race will count for the championship. (i.e: Akira Tanahashi wins a race, and Yoshikatsu Taniguchi finishes sixth in the same race. Only the 10 points of Tanahashi would count for the International Cup in this case)
